Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Livy. She was full of energy and loved exploring. Every night, Livy didn’t want to go to bed. She thought if she closed her eyes, she’d miss out on all the exciting things happening in the world.
Livy had a special nightlight, a twinkling star named Starry, that made her feel safe. Just like her nightlight, Livy was known as “Nightlight Livy” because she loved staying awake and shining brightly long into the night.
One evening, even Starry’s gentle light didn’t help Livy fall asleep. She tossed and turned, wide awake with so many thoughts. “Oh, Starry,” she whispered, “why can’t I sleep tonight? There’s so much I want to do and see!”
Suddenly, a soft glow filled the room. Livy sat up and saw something amazing—Mema, the mermaid queen, had appeared! She had a sparkling tail and wore a beautiful crown.
“Hello, Livy,” Mema said with a smile. “I heard you’re having trouble sleeping. Would you like to come on a magical journey to my underwater kingdom?”
Livy’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Really, Mema? That sounds amazing!”
In a flash, Mema took Livy under the ocean. They swam through clear water and past colorful coral reefs until they reached Mema’s underwater city. It was the most beautiful place Livy had ever seen! There were seashell houses, schools of fish playing games, and seaweed gardens that swayed in the water.
Livy explored the city for hours. She saw glittering jellyfish lanterns and rainbow-colored fish swimming together. She even got to ride a friendly dolphin named Delphie!
After their long adventure, they arrived at a fun mermaid party. The mermaids danced, their tails sparkling in the moonlight. There was music, laughter, and everyone was having a great time.
But as Livy watched, she let out a big yawn. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and realized she was too tired to join in. Wondering how the mermaids had so much energy for fun and adventure, Livy asked Mema, “How do the mermaids stay awake for so long?”
Mema chuckled and said, “Sleep is our special trick, Livy. Every night, we make sure to get lots of rest. Sleep helps us get ready for all the fun and adventures the next day.”
Livy nodded, finally understanding. “Mema, I think I’m ready to go back to bed. I need to get some rest, too.”
Mema smiled and gently held Livy’s hand. “Of course, Livy. And remember, you can visit our underwater city anytime you want.”
With a wave of her hand, Mema brought Livy back to her cozy bed. Livy snuggled up with Starry, feeling her eyes get heavy. She whispered, “Goodnight, Mema. Thank you for the adventure.”
“Goodnight, Livy,” Mema’s soft voice echoed. “Sweet dreams.”
And with that, Livy drifted off to sleep, dreaming of magical mermaids and underwater wonders, knowing she could always return to that magical place whenever she closed her eyes.
